Free‑Standing Oven Surround – Gap Filler STL

Welcome to my latest practical home design — a free‑standing oven surround created to solve one of the most annoying kitchen problems. If you’ve ever had to fish cutlery, utensils or rogue vegetables from the gap beside your oven after an “oops” moment, or survived the dreaded frying‑pan flick during a stir fry, this is the fix you’ve been waiting for.

This surround fills the side and rear gaps around a standard 600mm free‑standing oven, stopping items from falling down the sides and giving your kitchen a cleaner, more finished look.

I’ve been testing my own set printed in Polymaker PolyFlex for nearly a year, right next to the heat of daily cooking. It has survived roasts, family meals and constant use with barely a mark — flexible, durable and heat‑resistant enough for real‑world kitchen life.

Designed to Fit – Flexible & Scalable

My oven has approximately 14–15mm gaps on each side and 29mm at the back, and the design grips perfectly. Because it’s printed in a flexible material, it naturally compresses for a snug fit — and if your gaps differ, you can simply scale the model to suit your setup.

3D Printing Settings & Fitting Instructions

To get the best results:

1. Prepare your oven • Ensure the oven is level with the worktop. • Centre it in the gap and push it back as far as possible without crushing pipes or wiring — the 29mm rear allowance helps with this. • Measure your gaps to confirm whether scaling is needed.

2. Print orientation • Print top‑down on the bed. • Use 10–15 solid bottom layers to create a firm, rigid top surface. • Print the rest with low infill and 3 walls to allow flexibility and grip.

3. Material • Flexible filaments (like PolyFlex or TPU) work best for a tight, forgiving fit.

Disclaimer

I’ve tested mine for around a year with no issues at all, but every kitchen setup is different. I cannot accept responsibility for any problems that may occur in your specific application.
